SIXTEENTH SUNDAY IN TRINITY
October 1, 2017.
SUB-THEME/6: EVIDENCES OF A HEALED LAND.
TOPIC: Spiritual Healing 2: Godly Passion.
TEXT: Acts 2:38-42.
To appreciate and aspire towards godly passion as Christians.
Generally, after spiritual healing, many people ought to have great passion/hunger for God, His word, work and to be with Him. Many should desire God to have more of them. Having a desire to know God more and to live in righteousness are the ingredients for a godly passion. They are true evidences of genuine work of healing in a land. When a land is spiritually healed, there will be the evidence of personal revival of men, leading them to restoration of lost blessings, and giving them victory and glory. All these can be identified, nurtured, encouraged and sustained through sound spiritual leadership. May God use this study to awaken leaders to desire it.
1. How will you explain “godly passion”?
2. Discuss how godly passion is expressed in these scriptures, Num 25:1-12; I Sam 17:24-32; Neh. 8:13-18; Isa. 6:5-8; John 2:14-17; Acts 2:37-42; 8:4, 5, 13, 26, 27; II Cor. 9:2.
3. a. How can we express godly passion today?
b. Can there be any misgivings about the way we express godly passion today?
c. How should we respond to differences in the ways Christians express godly passion? Cf. Acts 5:29; Rom 14:5, 15; I Cor. 14:40.
4. Why and how does godly passion drive from spiritual healing? John 4:28-29, 39-40.
While all Christians share a common identity of faith in God; they differ significantly in many other ways. Rather than judge and condemn others based on our individual and peculiar, limited experience; let us be broadminded and accommodative of others and follow the scriptures wholly, instead of going only with a few that matches up to our own ways.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT:
Positive godly passion promotes godly and Kingdom initiatives!
