SUB-THEME:           The Name of Jesus Christ

TOPIC:                      The only way to Salvation

TEXTS:                     John 3:16; Acts 4:12; 5:34-39; Revelation 7:9-10

to shows that  before Jesus Christ came to the earth, some names had been paraded as ways to salvation and
to furnish the fact that the only way to salvation is in the name of Jesus Christ.

INTRODUCTION: Salvation can be defined as deliverance or liberation from the power and effects of sin; liberation from ignorance or illusion and preservation from destruction or failure.Acts 4:12 implies that salvation has its origin in God; that a Saviour for mankind must be given by him; and that salvation cannot be worked or generated  by any power among men. However, some other people have variously at various times presented themselves as saviour. These all did not end well.

Define salvation and explain the name of Jesus Christ as the only means for salvation of sinners. Mark 2:5-11; Acts 16:27-33
Discuss the fact that some people had portrayed themselves as ‘saviours’ before or during the life time of Jesus Christ on earth. (Acts 5:34-39).
What are the unique reasons for the claim of Jesus Christ as the only means of man’s salvation? Matt 1:20-21; John 3:16; 17:3-4; Gal 1:3-4
From the context of Acts 13:6-12, how can you explain Jesus Christ as the means of liberation from ignorance and illusion?

CONCLUSION: The Lord Jesus Christ is God’s gift for the salvation of all mankind. (John 3:16). Therefore, any other person in heaven or earth who lays claim or portrays himself as a way to salvation  apart from Jesus Christ, does so in rebellion to God’ ordained means and plan for salvation. And such are destined to eternal condemnation.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT: No Jesus Christ, no way to eternal life.

MEMORY VERSE: Matthew 1:21 “And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name JESUS, for He will save His people from their sins."
