to show the basis for the power in the name Jesus Christ and
to show the biblical records of the power in the name Jesus Christ.

INTRODUCTION: “Efficacy” simply means ‘the power to produce drastic effects on something or an ability to make impact on a particular situation’. The basis for the efficacy in the name ‘Jesus Christ’ is in the shedding of His blood as a price for the redemption of mankind.(Isa 53:1-5). In Acts 19:17-20, the name of the Lord Jesus was magnified with increasing honour. The genuine miracles performed in the name of the Lord Jesus, by Paul were in attestation of the truth of the doctrine which he taught. Impostors could not work such miracles; instead, they were exposed and disgraced.

Define efficacy and in your understanding show, the basis for the efficacy in the name ‘Jesus Christ’. Isa 53:3-5; 1Pet 2:21-24; 3:18 (Phil 2:5-12).
How can you explain the efficacy of Jesus’ name in the contexts of Mark 16:17; Luke 9:49-50; Acts 3:6-10(4:10); 19:11-13.
From your understanding, differentiate between miracles in Jesus’ name and magic through satanic mediums such as sorcery or exorcism. Use the contexts of Acts 8:9-13; 19:13-16.
From your experience (if any) narrate how some fake Christian miracle workers abuse the name of Jesus Christ through their deceitful activities.
As Christians, how can we overcome physical and spiritual challenges? Rev 12:7-11.

CONCLUSION: The efficacy or power displayed in any circumstance is based on the commitment of the actor in that circumstance. Therefore, the basis or major reason for the power in the name of Jesus Christ is the humble commitment to the course of Jesus Christ to the cause of human redemption with His own blood.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT:    Christ paid the price for Christians to have power to overcome life’s challenges through His shed blood.

MEMORY VERSE: Isaiah 53:5 “But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed”.
