SERMON EXCERPT - Sunday 27th October 2024

TOPIC: We are ambassadors of Christ

TEXT: 2 Corinthians 5:20

PREACHER: Ven. Prof. Solomon Esomu

Christians are called to represent Jesus Christ on earth as an Ambassadors. The motive of an Ambassador here on earth is to Represent Him (God) faithfully, we are accountable for this calling.

Romans 5:8 demonstrates God's love, while we were undeserving, Christ died for us. For he lavishly showed us His love by sacrifice, otherwise we would have been in doom.

Similarly, as an ambassador for Christ, our motive should be in the similitude of Christ's love. An inclusive love that is not selfish, a love that is not partial. As an ambassador of Christ, we should strive to show the same pattern of love to others.

The epitome of love to others is Sacrifice. Jesus Christ did not wait for us to be holy before showing us His love. He sacrificed himself before we came to the realization of His love towards us.

As an ambassador, leave your comfort zone, share the gospel and evangelize to others (Romans 14:13) for we will stand before God to give an account of our life.

We are not called as ambassadors to live a holy life only.

We are called with the motive of:

1. Motive of forgiveness

  • Forgiveness is a command from God, Mattew 6:14.
  • When we forgive, we birth peace...
  • When we forgive, we set ourselves free from bondage.
  • By forgiving, we create a pathway for reconciliation between parties.

2. Motive of accountability

Every ambassador has to answer to the authority he/she represents. This reminds us that we are not our own, our life must reflect Christ.

Note: All of us are called to bridge the gap between humanity and God, you must be humble and patient. True ambassadors seek to promote peace among the believers and gentiles.

Let us, therefore, live our life according to pattern. Let us be an ambassador that live according to Christ's life, Mattew 28:18
