SERMON EXCERPT - Sunday 15th September 2024
TOPIC: Marks of an Ambassador of Christ
TEXT: Ephesians 2:10, 2 Corinthians 5:17, 2 Corinthians 5:12
PREACHER: Ven. Prof. Solomon Esomu

Ambassadors are representatives of a higher authority sent to deliver messages from their master.  As Christians, we are sent to represent Christ here on earth.

As Christians, we are ambassadors of Christ but you can only represent  Christ if you know Him. You need to know the kingdom's values and roles.

Marks of an Ambassador of Christ

1. Purposeful living - Ephesians 2:10
You are created with an intentional purpose by God. Our existence in Christ is not by chance but by divine design. God has prepared a unique purpose for us to fulfil, even before we were conceived He knew us. As ambassadors of Christ, we must live to fulfill the purpose by which God created us.

If the spirit of God does not lead you, you are not of Christ.

2. Transformational life - 2 Cor. 5:17.
An ambassador is crafted in the image of God. You must take away the old life and be filled with the new life.

Whatsoever we do must reveal God. We must speak the truth because the Holy Spirit doesn't lie. As ambassadors our lifestyle should reflect the grace, mercy and righteousness of the one we represent (God).

3. Wisdom and peace - 1 Kings 5:12.

An ambassador of Christ requires wisdom that comes from God. We must make decisions that reflect the wisdom of God. The God-given wisdom enabled King Solomon to rule with an extraordinary level of peace (Matthew 5:9). As an ambassador of Christ you must be a peacemaker.

The marks of an Ambassador of Christ help us to live better and fulfill our purpose here on earth.

In conclusion, it is important we know who we are representing, it is a privilege to represent Christ here on earth so we must do so wholeheartedly.  As an ambassador, we are tasked with carrying the messages of Him whom we represent. May we represent Him faithfully so that through our lives others will come to know Christ.

Prayer points
1) May God grant us the grace to be true ambassadors of Christ.
