SERMON EXCERPT - Sunday 11th February 2024

SERMON EXCERPT: 11th February 2024

TOPIC: Our Steadfastness and Faithfulness to God in 2024

TEXT: 1 Kings 2:3-4

PREACHER: Ven. Emeka Anyaorah

  • Steadfastness means being resilient, not subject to change, and loyal and faithful.
  • Faithfulness means remaining loyal to someone or something regardless of the circumstances.

          These two words are synonyms.

Many have lost their places in God by failing to be faithful to God steadfastly.

Where there is no steadfastness, there is no loyalty to God. For instance, Esau sold his birthright. Because of temporary sexual pleasures, Solomon, the wisest king in the bible, succumbed to worshiping the idol; Lot's wife became a pillar of salt.

How do I inculcate steadfastness and faithfulness?

1) Know the word and ways of God personally. Josh 1:8, 1 Corinthians 15:58.

2) Live daily by faith, not by sight. Heb. 10: 38

3) Be continually on fire for God. Keep the fire on your altar burning.

4) Be careful who you follow. Who you follow determines what follows you & the destination you will get to. 1 Corinth. 11:1, Hebrew 13:7-8, Matt. 6:9-10

5) Be strong and very courageous. Joshua 1:6,7,9

6) Ensure that the will of God is done in and around you, as it is in heaven.

7) Resolve to stand alone or stand out for God if need be.

8) Be willing and ready to die for the Lord

Benefits of steadfastness

1) The Lord will keep you in perfect peace.

2) The Lord will never let you be put to shame.

3) The Lord will never let you down.

Prayer points

  1. O Lord, keep me to be steadfast
