SERMON EXCERPT - 24th December 2023
TOPIC: It is your Dream, not others.
TEXT: Gen. 37:4-7, Jer. 29:11, Hab. 2:2
PREACHER: Ven. Emeka Anyaorah

The source of your dream determines its actualisation. Your capacity to realise your dream is a function of the source. Joseph's dream had its source in God, which was true for David's dream.

What you see or hear can inspire a dream. The woman with the issue of blood had a dream to get out of her predicament; she got inspired by what she had heard of Jesus and said, "If I could touch the hem of His garment, I will be made whole".

Three (3) Points to Note:

1) It is your dream; own it.
You cannot defend or fight for what you do not own; Joseph owned his dream.

2) It is your dream; pursue it with vigour.
Every dream is in the future, and they are time-bound. No one has eternity to fulfil destiny. Time waits for no one.
David overcame because he refused to be deterred by people around him.

In trying to actualise your dream, you will meet obstacles and challenges. David faced many obstacles in his fight against Goliath: David faced harassment from his brothers; King Saul's assessment & disqualification of David as a warrior; David's inability to use the King's armour; Goliath's intimidating military and physical appearance; but these didn't deter him.

Stop looking at what is standing before you; pursue your dream vigorously. When you own your dream and pursue it with vigour, nothing will be able to stop you.

3) It is your dream; keep it PURE.
For perverse men, the end justifies the means, but with Godly men, the end doesn't justify the means. Don't try to help God actualise the dream he has given you. Don't take shortcuts; it will always shorten the outcome of your dream. Keep it pure in the pursuit of your dream 1 Timothy 6:6-11.
Whatever you do to actualise your dream will be accounted for.
Wait patiently for the Lord. In waiting, contentment is very important.

In conclusion, Mark 8:36-37, Whatever you achieve, you will leave and eventually account for it. So keep the pursuit of your dream PURE.
