Canon Francis Umegwuagu was born on the 1st of October 1960 in Uga, Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State, South-East Nigeria.
He began his academic pursuit at Ezinkwo Primary school in Uga after which he joined Boys Secondary school in his hometown, Uga, between 1976 and 1981 where he obtained his West African School Certificate. He went further to Federal Polytechnic Oko, Anambra state where he obtained an Ordinary National Diploma (OND) upper credit, in Business Administration in 1984.
He didn’t stop there; in 1985, Canon Umegwuagu went a step further to Yaba College of technology in Lagos where he obtained his Higher National Diploma (HND) Upper Credit, in Business Administration in 1987.
University of Uyo in Akwa Ibom state was the next port of call for Canon Umegwuagu from where he acquired a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration in 1995.
He subsequently attended Nnamdi Azikiwe University in Awka, Anambra state where he obtained a Masters (MA) in Marketing in 2002.
In 2003, Rev. Umegwuagu obtained a Diploma in Theology (Dip. Th) at the Trinity Theological College in Umuahia, the Abia state capital and a bachelor of divinity (BD) 2nd class upper division at the same institution in 2004.
He continued his quest for knowledge in 2005 when he gained admission into the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
He rounded off his studies in 2007 at the institution, bagging a Bachelor of Arts in Education (BA.ED) 2nd class upper division.
Canon Umegwuagu’s numerous academic qualifications include a Masters of Arts (MA) in Religious Studies which he obtained from the Ajayi Crowther University in Oyo state and a Masters of Theology (M.TH) from Crowther Graduate Theological Seminary in Abeokuta, Ogun state in 2017.
Canon Umegwuagu’s ministerial work has seen him occupy various positions in the Anglican Communion in Abia state such as; Catechist at Aba Diocese (1999-2002); Curate, St. Paul’s Church Abayi Umuocham (January 2005 –April 2007); Priest, St. Augustine’s Church, Ngwa Central Archdeaconry Headquarters, Okpu-Umuobo; Parish Priest, St. Barnabas Church, Ayaba Umueze, Aba (April 2007-September 2009) amongst other positions he had taken up in the course of his service in the Vineyard of God.
He is presently an Assistant Priest at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, Kubwa, FCT.
He is married to Mrs. Kenechukwu Umegwuagu-Francis and they have six lovely kids namely; Miracle, Valentine, Goodluck, Peter, Paul and Favour
His hobbies include jogging and travelling.
