The young Habila began his sojourn in the vineyard of God as an evangelist, his zeal to spread the word of God and win souls for Christ culminated in his quest for more knowledge of the word.

Between 1998 and 2001 he took the early step to priesthood at St. Francis College of Theology in Wusasa - Zaria, Kaduna state where he obtained a Diploma in Theology.

Between 2003 and 2004 he served as a chaplain to the then Suffragan Bishop of Abuja Diocese, Most Rev. Emmanuel Eghunu who is now the Archbishop of Lokoja Diocese.

His service in the vineyard of God has seen him posted to various parishes in the Abuja Diocese up until 2005 when the Kubwa Diocese was created.

A breakdown of his postings include; St. James Asokoro where he was a Curate (2001); Holy Trinity in Mpape where he was a Vicar (2002 - 2004); All Saints Bwari where he served as Vicar (2005-2006); Christ Church, Karimu where he also served as Vicar(2006, 6 months).
